Biogas levy from 2012

Publication of the specific biogas levy in the H-gas market area of NetConnect Germany (NCG)

According to paragraph 7 of the Cooperation Agreement as amended on 30 June 2011 (KoV IV) in conjunction with the guidelines to pass on the costs of biogas (“Leitfaden Kostenwälzung Biogas”), costs which the network operators incur through giving network access to biogas are passed on (rolled over) in the jointly operated H-gas market area of NetConnect Germany (NCG). Within the NCG market area, the cost rollover starts with the market area-spanning network operators – Open Grid Europe, bayernets, GRTgaz Deutschland, Eni Gastransport Deutschland, GVS Netz and Thyssengas. Under the above named provisions these companies use the specific biogas levy to pass on the costs to the relevant exit points in their market area-spanning networks.

Open Grid Europe publishes the specific biogas levy applicable throughout the NCG market area. This levy is 0,00046 €/kWh/h/d in the NCG market area. This corresponds to EUR 0.17/kWh/h/a in the calendar year.

The relevant biogas levy is charged in addition to the network fees for all capacities at exit points to downstream network operators and end users connected directly to the network of Open Grid Europe. Exit points at storage facilities, border crossing points and market area boundaries are exempt from the biogas levy.
