Are you interested in how natural gas gets to your home and who transports it?
We are responsible for the transportation of natural gas throughout Germany, and with our long-distance pipeline network covering over 12,000 km, we are one of Germany’s leading gas transmission companies. Every day our 1,450 employees work to ensure natural gas is available at all times. In addition, we also offer comprehensive services for other companies and carry out research into future-oriented gas transportation solutions.
Our gas pipeline network consists of complex mechanical plants with a variety of electrical, electronic and IT-related elements. All these mechatronic systems need to be maintained regularly, but they must also be expanded and modernised to meet the demands of customers and modern gas transmission. Our mechatronics technicians are all-rounders who independently maintain and optimise mechanical and electrical components in our gas network. They seek out system disruptions and keep the machines as well as measuring, control and regulation systems, in good nick. With modern, sometimes computer-controlled equipment, mechatronics technicians ensure seamless gas transmission.
When training as Mechatronics Technician at Open Grid Europe, you first learn the important fundamentals of metals and electrical engineering in order to develop a broad basis of knowledge and skills. These include the production of mechanical components, measuring electrical variables, programming mechatronic systems, building and checking electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic control systems, putting together different types of assemblies and components for machines and systems, and much more. One important element of your training is compliance with occupational safety regulations.
If you are committed and motivated and like the idea of a varied apprenticeship and tackling new challenges, then an apprenticeship with Open Grid Europe could be the right option for you!
